Ok.. SO you've now tried food.. But you may be thinking: I still am insanely itchy in the shower..
Or, worse you get those red raised skin issues.. *And* you're itchy.. And, the longer you stay in nice, hot water, the redder and more spotted you become.
SO it started for me when I went to a humid climate (Hawaii) and got a lot of salt water all over me and wasn't getting much better.
I started searching and found some really rare allergies people have to water. Specifically this girl, whose rash matched mine almost exactly, just luckily mine was contained to my arm and not all over my belly (for the most part thankfully).
Some people say: Oh eczema gets worse in hot water, take luke warm showers.. My thoughts: I already don't enjoy showers, I'm not going to add the pains of weeping skin when water is touching me and cold water (I already take "luke warm" showers and don't want it any colder)..
So, I started "researching". HMMM I think.. According to Wikipedia "Aquagenic urticaria". But, I think: ok, maybe it's the chlorine..
Because I know in Spokane I may get slightly rashy but it's not like in major cities where I get ridiculously blotchy.
SO I start reading forums and what people were saying about their water.. I thought: Hmm, Seattle is full of OCD people who want clean water, so this city probably put all sorts of chlorine in it..
Then I went to Amazon and saw the review for this product from Culligan for showerhead filters.
I thought, heck, these people sound in pain like me and this might work. So I ended up buying one and installing it.
Turns out "installing" is quite easy.. I ended up with one that is a filter , so you just untwist your current head then put the filter in, then you twist back in the original head.
The Culligan one seems better though as mine only does 75% chlorine filter, whereas that one does more.. Perhaps even sulphur, which one guy said was a big issue for him.
If you have any issues twisting off your showerhead / need to tighten it back on better, I used a generic cheap wrench.
Home Depot has a good little article on how to do it. They say you need teflon tape, you really don't. THe pictures might help though.
I can tell you it made a HUGE HUGE difference.. Your hair will most likely feel smoother too. If you get little bumps after taking a shower, this should eliminate that.
